Love of Money

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

Much sorrow and grief can come from loving money. It can lead to a guilty conscience, tormenting passions, desires contrary to reason, religion, and one another. Not the money itself, which if used for God is a blessing, so much as the love of it. This greedy love is the source of every sin. People murder, cheat, lie, rob, all for the love of money. For love of money Judas sold his Master.

Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

1 Timothy 6:9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.

Gifts That Cannot Be Bought

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money Acts 8:18, 20

He saw some manifestation of the presence of the Holy Ghost, amd wanted it too. Simon wanted the ability to give the Holy Ghost to whomever he wanted so much that he was willing to pay for that power. This was God’s miracle working power and could not be purchased with money.
God’s gifts are free. All we need to do is accept his gift of Salvation and then all the other gifts are ours too.

Jesus offers free life to all. You may come and live forever.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. JOHN 3:16
