Feasting On The Word

FEASTING ON THE WORD

God’s Word is a must for the Christian life. His Word is life to our soul. His Word is our roadmap to Heaven. His Word brings comfort and peace. A good way to start the New Year is in the Word. His Words are true. They will never fail. We can depend on God’s Holy Word.

         For some years now I have read through the Bible twice every year. If you picture the Bible to be a mighty tree and every word a little branch, I have shaken every one of these branches because I wanted to know what it was and what it meant … Martin Luther

My Councelor

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night, my heart instructs me. –Psalm 16:7

There is a time when we can talk with God undisturbed.In the stillness of the night, Jesus communes with His children. I know from personal experiences.
It is then when in the quietness of night, He gets our attention and can tell me things.

So take heart, Jesus longs to counsel with you. At night when you can’t sleep, try talking to the shepherd. He is waiting to get in touch with His children.

Tell Him all your problems, Tell Him all your concerns. He is listening and will talk to you. Take time to listen and hear His voice.

I will praise the Lord. He talks to me and tells me things I need to know. My heart instructs me.

~God’s Grace~

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8

The grace of God is found in His great love for sinners. He longs to do them good. Jesus offered up His body so sinners could be made pure and whole. God’s grace is sufficient for every need. The grace of God brings salvation. His grace builds us up and gives us an inheritance in the family of God. Through faith we accept His wonderful grace. This wonderful grace appears to all men everywhere.

Thank you Jesus for Your marvelous grace.

~Buckets Full of Grace~

When the sun hides its face

And everything is wrong
Just bring your bucket
Let God fill it with grace

Buckets full of grace
Grace for all our fears
And Grace for all our tears
God fill up our buckets

In times of trouble
Do not turn from God
Do not be angry
God has a bucket of grace

Turn to God in faith
And in humility
Ask Him to let down
A bucket full of His grace

Sins hammering your heart
Void of love and peace
Let a bucket of grace
Fall down from above

O come! Do not linger
His grace is sufficient
for all of your many needs

Fill our buckets with Your Grace

Beauty For Ashes

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. -Isaiah 61:3

Spring Planting Time
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Plant five rows of peas: preparedness, promptness, perseverance, politeness, prayer.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Next, plant three rows of squash: squash gossip, squash criticism, squash indifference.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Then plant five rows of lettuce: let us be faithful, let us be loyal, let us be unselfish, let us love one another, let us be truthful.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
No garden is complete without turnips: turn up for church, turn up with a smile, turn up with a new idea, turn up with real determination.

~Author Unknown~

Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. -Isaiah 60:21

My All In All

Jesus, My All In All

You are my creator
I worship You Lord
I honor you Lord
I love you Lord
My all in all

I love You Lord
You are my Savior
You are my Rock
You are my Fortress
And my God

I worship You Lord
You are my strength
In you I find protection
In you I find peace
In you I find happiness

I honor you Lord
You are my deliverer
You are my shield
You are my buckler

You are my God

I love you Lord
Now I arise and on you call
In worship and praise
In love and gratitude
In sweet admiration

You are my creator
I worship You Lord
I honor you Lord
I love you Lord
My all in all

18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
 19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
 20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
 21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. -John 19

Christmas at Sea

The sheets were frozen hard, and they cut the naked hand;
The decks were like a slide, where a seamen scarce could stand;
The wind was a nor’wester, blowing squally off the sea;
And cliffs and spouting breakers were the only things a-lee.

They heard the surf a-roaring before the break of day;
But ’twas only with the peep of light we saw how ill we lay.
We tumbled every hand on deck instanter, with a shout,
And we gave her the maintops, and stood by to go about.

All day we tacked and tacked between the South Head and the North;
All day we hauled the frozen sheets, and got no further forth;
All day as cold as charity, in bitter pain and dread,
For very life and nature we tacked from head to head.

We gave the South a wider berth, for there the tide-race roared;
But every tack we made we brought the North Head close aboard:
So’s we saw the cliffs and houses, and the breakers running high,
And the coastguard in his garden, with his glass against his eye.

The frost was on the village roofs as white as ocean foam;
The good red fires were burning bright in every ‘long-shore home;
The windows sparkled clear, and the chimneys volleyed out;
And I vow we sniffed the victuals as the vessel went about.

The bells upon the church were rung with a mighty jovial cheer;
For it’s just that I should tell you how (of all days in the year)
This day of our adversity was blessed Christmas morn,
And the house above the coastguard’s was the house where I was born.

O well I saw the pleasant room, the pleasant faces there,
My mother’s silver spectacles, my father’s silver hair;
And well I saw the firelight, like a flight of homely elves,
Go dancing round the china-plates that stand upon the shelves.

And well I knew the talk they had, the talk that was of me,
Of the shadow on the household and the son that went to sea;
And O the wicked fool I seemed, in every kind of way,
To be here and hauling frozen ropes on blessed Christmas Day.

They lit the high sea-light, and the dark began to fall.
“All hands to loose topgallant sails,” I heard the captain call.
“By the Lord, she’ll never stand it,” our first mate Jackson, cried.
…”It’s the one way or the other, Mr. Jackson,” he replied.

She staggered to her bearings, but the sails were new and good,
And the ship smelt up to windward just as though she understood.
As the winter’s day was ending, in the entry of the night,
We cleared the weary headland, and passed below the light.

And they heaved a mighty breath, every soul on board but me,
As they saw her nose again pointing handsome out to sea;
But all that I could think of, in the darkness and the cold

Jesus said “Follow Me”

He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory…” Luke 9:23-26

Ready for Christmas

“Ready for Christmas,” she said with a sigh.
As she gave a last touch to the gifts piled high . . .
Then wearily sat for a moment to read.
Till soon, very soon, she was nodding her head.
Then quietly spoke a voice in her dream,
“Ready for Christmas, what do you mean? “
She woke with a start and a cry of despair.
“ There’s so little time and I’ve still to prepare.
Oh, Father! Forgive me, I see what You mean!
To be ready means more than a house swept clean.
Yes, more than the giving of gifts and a tree.
It’s the heart swept clean that He wanted to see,
a heart that is free from bitterness and sin
so be ready for Christmas–and ready for Him.”
-Author Unknown

 It is very important that we have a clean heart in our daily walk with God. The Holy Spirit will not dwell in an unclean Temple. We must love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. On our journey to Heaven it is important that we put God first in everything. Walter Smith said: 1824-1908

Yea, only as this heart is clean
May larger vision yet be mine,
For mirrored in its depths are seen
The things divine, the things divine.
 It’s not altogether about having a perfectly clean home, but about having a heart that is right before the Lord. Jeremiah 17:9-10 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. On our journey home, our prayer should be,” Create in me a clean heart, O God”

Study

~Study~
2 Timothy 2:15

Study for God has commanded it.
Study to be righteous in God’s sight
When one studies, he is not ashamed.
He knows how to discern the word
The love o God is shed abroad
By the Holy Ghost in our hearts
I am not ashamed of the Gospel
I am persuaded that he is able
To keep, to fulfill, to satisfy
Study the Word

2 Timothy 2:15  “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” KJV

2 Tim 3:16-17  “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

Only Believe

The Jailer Converted
But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.  When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.  But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!” And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas,  and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” -Acts 16:25:30

31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house.
“What must I do to be saved?” Acts 16:

WHAT SHALL I DO TO BE SAVED?

O! what shall I do to be saved
From the sorrows that burden my soul?
Like the waves in the storm
When the winds are at war,
Chilling floods of distress o’er me roll.
What shall I do? what shall I do?
O! what shall I do to be saved?

O! what shall I do to be saved
When the pleasures of youth are all fled?
And the friends I have loved,
From the earth are removed
And I weep o’er the graves of the dead?
What shall I do? what shall I do?
O! what shall I do to be saved?

O! what shall I do to be saved
When sickness my strength shall subdue?
Or the world in a day,
Like a cloud roll away,
And eternity opens to view?
What shall I do? what shall I do?
O! what shall I do to be saved?

O! Lord, look in mercy on me,
Come, O come and speak peace to my soul:
Unto whom shall I flee,
Dearest Lord, but to Thee,
Thou canst make my poor, broken heart whole.
That will I do! that will I do!
To Jesus I’ll go and be saved!
